Lisa V. Cox, MSSW, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hello, I am a native East Tennessean, providing professional and confidential therapy services for adult residents of Tennessee. I received my Bachelor's of Social Work from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, and my Master's of Social Work in Clinical Practice from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I have been practicing for approximately 25 years. Areas of  expertise include mood disorders such as depression and anxiety,  marriage/couples therapy, healing from traumatic childhood abuse and grief/bereavement. I offer both in-person and on-line sessions.

I accept original Medicare, CIGNA, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, POMCO and VA Champ. Private pay fees: 90-minute evaluations are $100.00 and each following 60-minute session is $75.00.

I do not prescribe medications but am happy to consult with your Primary Care Provider with your signed permission.

"Where your treasure lies, you will find your heart."

The intimate relationship between a couple is a treasure, and should be treated as such.  This is a foundational basis of the marriage/couples therapy that I so passionately provide. I am a Certified Gottman Leader as well a "perpetual student" of the 40-plus years of evidence-based research of John Gottman, Ph.D. and The Gottman Institute. If we put our time, attention and wealth into our relationship, our partner will see that and feel valued and respected. If not, feelings of being unappreciated and disconnection may inevitably begin to surface.   Phone: 423-525-0388   Fax: 423-373-1433

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."                                                                                                                                                 - Viktor Frankl

Life is beautiful. It's also very difficult and painful at different times in our lives. If you are suffering, or struggling, and considering seeking out a professional to talk with and confide in, please call or email me. One of the most valuable and healing aspects of therapy is the ability to "say what you want to say" and "ask what you want to ask" in a private, confidential setting with a professional who is not a family member, not a friend or neighbor, and not a co-worker.   Phone: 423-525-0388   Fax: 423-373-1433
